Entonces... ¿quienes son las mujeres detrás de este medio? Nuestra co-fundadora Katherine Stanley Obando es una periodista especializada en reportajes en profundidad sobre inmigración, educación, derechos de la mujer e iniciativas de la sociedad civil. Es líder y coach en desarrollo de subvenciones, investigación, recaudación de fondos y gestión de proyectos para organizaciones sin fines de lucro.

Co-fundó JumpStart Costa Rica y Costa Rica Corps, dos organizaciones enfocadas en involucrar a voluntarios en la creación de oportunidades para comunidades rurales y urbanas de bajos ingresos, y lo que la hace feliz es compartir sus habilidades con organizaciones sin fines de lucro y pequeñas empresas. También es la Editora de Inglés de SembraMedia, una organización internacional que impulsa el éxito de emprendedores de medios digitales.

Katherine vive en San José con su esposo costarricense Adrián y su hija Emma, para quien escribió “Love in Translation: Letters to My Costa Rican Daughter”, publicado en el 2016.

So... who are the two women now launching new projects for 2024 at El Colectivo 506?

Our co-founder Mónica Quesada Cordero is an award-winning Costa Rican photographer with 15 years’ experience in project development across multiple branches of photography, from the fast-paced editorial world to other demanding areas of photography such as portraiture, wildlife, food, and architecture. She discovered photography as a college student and changed her life to follow her new passion wholeheartedly, complementing her images with writing and editorial experience and a master’s degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Production from the Universidad de Costa Rica.

Monica is very interested in the subjects of healthy aging, conservation and equality; she co-founded El Colectivo because of her deep commitment to in-depth photojournalism that is guided by her belief in the worth of each person’s story. She lives in San José with her husband Thomas, their two boys, and their pets.
