Tierra Amiga Tarrazú

We are a very traditional family. Our project is located just 1.5 hours from San José. We offer an experience where you will be in contact with the land, you will taste delicious food, produced on the same farm, and you will learn about organic farming in addition to sharing with our family and our culture.

Our family consists of Minor, Lucidia and our little Ruth. We decided to develop this project because we want to rescuing our roots, culture and traditions. Those of our grandparents. We are farmers and grow a lot of different crops such as chayote, corn and natural condiments, coffee and more, using organic fertilizers we make. We cook in a stove as our ancestors did, we prepare homemade bread in a wood oven, soups, rice dishes and others. When you visit us, you will be able to plant your own coffee plant, give it a name, taste fresh and organic fruits and vegetables from the same farm. The visit is very interactive.

Going back to our roots
  • We pride to be an organic coffee farm. We do everything from growing to packaging so you can take some of our great coffee home.

  • Our guests can experience the joy of graining your own coffee, our ancestors way.

  • Our tradicional oven is used to cook anything, from smoked pork to delicious bread.

  • We grow what we can, and eat what we grow. This is our pride, our treasure, what mother earth gives us.

  • Cooking in a tradicional stove is magical, and you can experience it with us.

  • Those who come to our house become family. We hope you, your family and friends, can join us.

  • When you come, we will be waiting for you with all kinds of traditional Costa Rican food cooked in our traditional oven and stove.

  • Minor Lucidia y Ruth

We are Minor, Lucidia and little root. We welcome you to our home.

  • Do you want to learn more about coffee? Join us! We can teach you all you need to know.

  • This is Ruth! She is our root, the boss, the future farmer that will carry our traditions.

But the most important one has been 🇨🇷. During this month of planning at #elcolectivo506, we've thought (alone and together) about what impact we hope to achieve for our country through #solutionsjournalism, and how we can make more progress towards those goals.

We can't wait to share the results with you!

We’ve been poring over your answers to our 2022 Survey and learning so much about our reader community (the best on Earth, if we do say so ourselves). We’re so excited to hang out with you again as February begins.

The final story on our list of 2022 favorites for The final story on our list of 2022 favorites for your holiday reading: the first part of our March 2022 series, “The Lineup.” Costa Rica’s congress always gives us something to talk about, good and bad, but the best way to understand what happens there is to figure out how the people who represent us win their seats.
