Las Aves de Tierras Altas is a unique, rural and cozy lodging sanctuary immersed in the mountains, it gets its name from the large number of birds that visit the area, attracted by the flowers, fruits and many trees that serve as shelter and nesting, it is an ideal place for the contemplation, observation and registry of birds.
Ideal place for naturalists, bird watchers, ornithologists, biologists, nature lovers, environmentalists, or anyone related who feels love for nature, who think green and collaborate in the proper use of basic resources.
The venture was born in 2004, when a retired Costa Rican, who is an educator and biologist, decided to settle in the town of Bijagua and be an integral part of the community with which she fell in love. The owner has experience in formal education and as coordinator of Environmental Education and Interpretation projects, she decided to share her passion with nationals and foreigners and translate it into two cabins in the massif of the Tenorio Volcano National Park, providing trails in a protected secondary forest since 2000. A garden area, fruit and timber trees in regeneration and reforestation area, walks along the edge of the forest, a place where many birds and butterflies are observed, mainly.
There is a biological corridor planted with fruit trees that runs through the property and joins two areas of forest.
Some spaces in the area are planted with edible plants, cassava, corn, beans, tiquisque, plantain, banana, others; according to the sowing or harvest time. Although experience teaches us that the proximity of the plot with forest attracts forest species and they are the ones who enjoy them.
You can walk around the space or simply sit and enjoy the “view” of the Miravalles Volcano in front of the plot, enjoy a hammock and a good book and make use of a large library.
